3rd-4th Grade Teacher and 7th-8th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Naomi Getka is from South Haven, Michigan. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School, Michigan Lutheran Seminary, and Dr. Martin Luther College with a BS in Elementary Education.

She was first called to teach grades 1-4 at Zion Lutheran School in Mobridge, South Dakota. After marrying Pastor Jim Getka, she joined him in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and taught 5th and 6th grade at Centennial Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI, and 1st and 2nd grade at Christ St. Peter's in Milwaukee, WI. Going back to her alma mater, Michigan Lutheran Seminary, as Professor Getka, she taught freshman through seniors with Biology, Science, Physiology and Anatomy, P.E., and coached Varsity volleyball. She spent some time as a stay-at-home mom with her 5 children and returned to teaching with an emergency call to Evergreen Lutheran High School, teaching US History. The past 10 years have been here at Faith Lutheran School, teaching different combinations of grades 3-8, coaching, directing music, and tutoring.

Mrs. Getka loves hiking with her family, kayaking with her husband, reading books on the rainy, cold nights, and walking the dog.

"Teaching and working with students is a joy for me. Sharing that Jesus has lived a perfect life and died for us and growing in his grace together is a precious gift. Knowing that promise of heaven is for us and all believers is exciting to share with others."
